General Info

1. Local Information

Local Transport The villages of Kabak and Faralya are situated south-east of Fethiye on the coast. They are easily accessed with 3 minibus services a day in the low season and 5 services a day in the high season. These services are inexpensive and very convenient for local transport needs. See Getting there page.

Shop There is a small shop in Kabak with basic supplies. It is best to bring personal items with you.

Restaurants While all meals are included in the accommodation and the guided tours, on rest days you might like to try one of the local restaurants.Organic, traditional Turkish and international cuisines are among the local offerings.

Local produce Oranges, mandarins, tangerines and lemons are available including some wonderful local varieties in late autumn and throughout the winter. Figs, pomegranates, grapes and grape molasses (pekmez) are ready to eat in late summer. And the hills are bursting with oregano, sage, thyme and bay leaf free for the taking.

Swimming In the warmer months and even in early winter the Mediterranean remains warm. There are a couple of wonderful beaches and secluded coves in the area.

2.Things you need to bring.

Clothing

Other than usual attire for travelling and walking there are few special requirements for this region. The notes below are a good guide.
Boots with solid soles and ankle support are best for this terrain.
Walking poles are very useful for this terrain offering additional stability allowing you to concentrate on the scenery and not the ground .
Hat and a beanie or bandana a polar fleece for the cooler months and the evenings.
Rain gear – yes we do get some but not that much.
Sunglasses
Swimming gear
A pair of slippers or flip-flops for inside your room. It is the custom to remove your shoes before entering a house and it’s a good idea for your room as well.

Personal items

Bring a book because they’re not easy to find here. For those with a special interest in bird watching and flora you might like to consider purchasing a copy of Paul Hope’s ‘Walking and Birdwatching in South West Turkey’ available from Stanford’s

Snack foods are available from a local shop but you might prefer to bring a supply of your favourites.
Insect repellent. You probably won’t have to use it. All our hotels are in wonderfully elevated positions and mosquitoes and other biting insects are not a major problem.
Sun screen is essential at all times of the year.
